glenn came over friday night. with this outside when i opened the gate.
we had lunch at marmalade pantry on saturday. GOOD FOOD. i recommend this place to everyone seriously.
seriously the best club sandwich i've ever eaten. maybe cause it doesnt contain bacon cause i dislike bacon. so damn goood.
beef pie. beef was so tender and soft nomnomnom. but portion might be too small if you're really really damn hungry.
reviews say that marmalade pantry is good for their desserts. there're just so many to choose from. and these are only the displayed ones. not forgetting there's more in the menu!
sea salt caramel cheese cake. WORTH EVERY CENT. seriously.
we ordered the nutella cupcake cause reviews said their cupcakes are nice and one of the reviews recommended nutella cupcake. but i thought it tasted like any ordinary cupcake. like i can just bake a chocolate cupcake and spread nutella on top and it'll taste similar too. nothing fantastic. abit dry too.
and his mummy bought cake! marble and chocolate almond.
sunday. suprised glenn with his sji classmates at peperoni's for lunch! was supposed to be last sunday (his birthday) but the guys couldnt make it so they postponed it. we ordered two 22 inch pizzas! damn huge. salmon, ham and mushroom, pepperoni and parma ham and rocket pizzas. I LOVED THE SALMON PIZZA BEST.
dinner with family at this peranakan place near keppel club. the restaurant's name so cute.
let me introduce you to some peranakan food in case you dont really know what peranakan food is.
sambal belacan. a must have with peranakan food.
ayam buah keluak. (y) chicken braised with the black pulp of Indonesian black nuts known as Buah Keluak. the nut pulp is combined with spices before they are pushed back into the nuts to be cooked along with the chicken.
sambal udang. fresh, shelled-prawns stir-fried in fragrant sambal sauce, with or without Petai beans. didnt really like this cause it tasted more thai than peranakan.
chap chye. cabbage stewed with timchok (sweet beancake), taukee, (white bean stick), kim cham (dry lilybuds), boknee (small black fungus) and tanghoon in mild taucheo gravy.
bawang/bakwan kepiting. minced pork mixed with mackerel, crabmeat and bamboo shoots and cooked in chicken & fish stock. served, garnished with fried garlic and coriander leaves/spring onions.
babi pongteh/pongtay. leaner cuts of pork belly are braised together with sliced bamboo shoots and chinese mushrooms in a gravy made from fermented soya beans. served garnished with green chillies.
durian pengat. pure durian mousse served chilled with steamed yams and sweet potatoes.
apom berkuah. rice flour pancakes made from fermented rice flour and coconut water. served with warm banana sauce. the pancake is adorned with colour (blue) from the Bunga Telang.
durian apom balik. wheat flour pancakes made from coconut milk and pandan juice, filled with durian jam or egg jam (kaya). it is then flipped into halves – hence, the name “balik”.
there was buboh cha cha: yams and sweet potatoes are steamed and cooked in a light coconut sauce with sago pearls. served with colourful tapioca jelly. as well but it was gone before i could take a picture of it.
DAMN DAMN DAMN FULL. i ate too much today. no. i ate too much this weekend.
